What Is the Safest Place to Invest Money?

Aside from the obvious (bank account), what else provides a safe investment for your money? Well, as long as you understand that safety usually means low return, bonds are another way to go. The *safest* investment would be government bonds, because these debts are backed by the US government. I myself have invested in Series EE bonds. Currently they are paying 3.20% annual interest. A little better than commercial savings account, but they do require that you hold the bond for at least 12 months. So if you are looking for liquidity plus safety, then you may just want to keep your in a FDIC insured bank.
